What your sauna needs from your electrical panel.
Last updated: September 2026
Every model is built for U.S. homes. Some plug into an outlet you already have; others need their own circuit installed by a licensed electrician. This page tells you which is which, and what to say to your electrician before delivery.

The amps in brackets are the approximate draw: rated power divided by the voltage. Your electrician sizes the breaker and wire for the circuit according to local code.
No Electrician Required
The 1-Person saunas and the ice baths with a chiller come with a standard U.S. plug. Plug them into a grounded 110V outlet and they are ready.
- Use a wall outlet, not an extension cord, power strip, surge protector or adapter.
- While the sauna is heating, do not run another high-draw appliance (space heater, hair dryer, microwave) on the same circuit. If the breaker trips, move the sauna to an outlet on a different circuit.
- The outlet should be within reach of the cord without stretching it. Check the cord length in the manual for your model, or ask us before delivery.
Electrician Required
The 2-Person and larger saunas draw more than a shared household circuit is designed to carry. They need their own circuit from the panel, installed by a licensed electrician before delivery. The Professional Assembly service does not include electrical work.
What to tell your electrician:
- The model and its rating from the table above, for example "240V, 2,700W".
- Where the sauna will stand, so the outlet ends up within reach of the cord and outside the cabin.
- For 110V models: a dedicated circuit with a grounded outlet, not shared with other appliances.
- For 240V infrared models: a dedicated 240V circuit with an outlet. The plug type is shown in the manual that ships with the sauna; ask us before delivery if your electrician needs it earlier.
- For the Outdoor Traditional Cedar sauna: the 6kW Harvia heater is hardwired, not plugged in. The electrician runs the circuit to the heater's connection box and adds the disconnect, wire size and breaker that the heater documentation and local code require.
Keep the electrician's invoice. It confirms that the connection was made to code, which the warranty asks for.
Outdoor models
Outdoor saunas connect through outdoor-rated, weatherproof wiring. In most areas the code requires ground-fault protection for outdoor circuits, and some towns require a permit for a new circuit. Your electrician takes care of both. Have the circuit ready before the delivery day so the first heat-up can happen the same day the sauna is assembled.
Rules for every model
- One sauna, one circuit. Never share it with another appliance while the sauna is on.
- No extension cords, timers, smart plugs or surge protectors between the outlet and the sauna.
- The outlet stays outside the cabin, where it is dry and reachable.
- Do not change the plug, the cord or the wiring inside the sauna. Doing so voids the warranty.
- Unplug the sauna, or switch off the circuit, before cleaning or replacing a part.
